CRAFT BEER AND ORGANIC CURVES FORM WEIJENBERG’S DESIGN FOR BREWERKZ RIVERSIDE POINT

October 19, 2020

WEIJENBERG, the award-winning Singapore-headquartered design studio, has completed its latest F&B design project with the re-opening of the flagship outlet for Brewerkz, Singapore’s longest running craft brewery experience, at Riverside Point.

The new 6,000 square-foot, 350-seat restaurant and bar showcases Singapore’s only handcrafted copper bar with organic curves inspired by traditional beer-making equipments.

The client’s brief called for a contemporary space that is airy, yet warm and intimate while paying homage to the craft of beer-brewing. Taking inspiration from friends coming together and raising a glass, the team at WEIJENBERG designed the space with its philosophy of ‘crafting the traditional, shaping the future’ by using materials such as copper, rivets, warm wood and metal mesh.

Forming the centrepiece is the bar cladded with copper sheets and rivets. It flows from the indoor space to the comfortable outdoor area, which faces Singapore River. The aged Chinese stucco walls add character and texture to the space. Different types of seating ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy Singapore-brewed craft beers and local flavours and contemporary western and Asian-inspired dishes.

The WEIJENBERG team created three dining spaces in the restaurant with a sequence of low, curved walls. Made from warm-toned wood, the walls run through and gently subdivide the spaces, creating pockets for people to come together while leaving the overall feel open and inviting.

The wave walls are handcrafted and cladded with copper sheets and rivets. The designers have carefully selected materials and details that are reminiscent of the area’s shipping history.

Camiel Weijenberg, founder and director of WEIJENBERG, says: “With the completion of this project, Brewerkz Riverside Point joins our stable of designer restaurants such as the award-winning RAW by celebrated chef André Chiang in Taipei and Cure in Singapore. WEIJENBERG and Brewerkz share the same values and passion for the craft - be it in the designs we create or the beer they make. We invite everyone to experience our crafts at the new Brewerkz Riverside Point.”
